.....OTHER RESOURCES.....

Investing in a Fender hard shell case may be the best investment for your Fender guitar that you can make at the time of your purchase. There are many reasons for this and it would be a good idea to explore these reasons so you can make the right decision before you lay your hard earned money down on the counter!.

1. Hard Shell vs Gig Bag
Both cases will protect your Fender guitar but which guitar case affords the best protection? I think the hard shell guitar case wins out here though the gig bag will offer protection for your guitar in many instances. If you are going to be doing a lot of traveling the hard shell case will do the best job. Often your guitar is being "man handled" by people who don't have the same pride of ownership that you do in your guitar. A gig bag just won't protect your guitar as well if it's being tossed around in buses, air planes and trailers. You may see small dents or impressions on your guitar and wonder how they got there. Worst case is being surprised by the neck of your guitar broke in half! A gig bag would okay for home storage and traveling to places where you can do the packing and are able to keep an eye on your guitar.

2. Hard Shell Case vs. Soft Shell Case.
The decision to purchase a hard shell case verses a soft shell case may not be as obvious compared to a gig bag. Both cases afford very good protection for your guitar. Both will protect you guitar from the elements very well such as rain and humidity. They will also protect you guitar from rough handling during travel. Today's materials in Fender soft shell cases are very rugged and can protect your guitar from all but the most severest of impacts. This, along with being much lighter in weight than the hard shell case can make this guitar case type very appealing. Lugging a guitar in a hard shell case up and down stairs can make you round shouldered very quickly!

3. Investment value.
If you plan to keep your guitar for a future investment I would advise not considering a gig bag for the reasons stated above. Also as time goes on gig bags tend to wear quicker than the other two types of guitar cases because they are made out of cloth type materials. The soft shell guitar case may protect your guitar almost as well as a hard case and be lighter but over the long hall I would recommend a hard case. Yes the hard case is heavier and may be more expensive but from my experience it offers the best protection for your guitar and the case itself seems to fair better over the long hall, thus adding value to your guitar.
